About Pinky's Shuga Shack

PINKY'S SHUGA SHACK WAS ESTABLISHED IN MARCH OF 2011. HAVING OPENED THE DOORS TO THE PUBLIC NOVEMBER 12, 2011. CLYDE WALKER (MY HUSBAND) PURCHASED A SMALL BUILDING ON THE WEST SIDE OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN WITH THE INTENTIONS OF GIVING HIS WIFE (ME) ONE OF HER DREAMS PENDING HER UPCOMING RETIREMENT FROM THE STATE OF MICHIGAN DEPT OF HUMAN SERVICES.

WHEN WE BRAINSTORMED TO DECIDE THE FUTURE OF THE BUILDING. WE FINALLY DECIDED TO BE COME A BAKERY.

THE NAME WAS THE RESULT OF MY HUSBANDS QUICK WITTYNESS TO GIVE HUMORUS NAMES TO THINGS AND PEOPLE. OFFICIALLY HAVING ADDED MY NICKNAME TO THE PHRASE HE SAYS I HAVE THE BEST SHUGA IN TOWN.

THUS THE NAME: PINKY’S SHUGA SHACK, “THE BEST SHUGA IN TOWN “ WAS IN STONE.

RENOVATIONS WERE STARTED RIGHT AWAY. I LOVE THE 50’S AND 60’S THEREFORE THE THEME WAS BORN THAT WOULD HIGHLIGHT THE INTERIOR, AND DÉCOR. AND NO OTHER COLOR WOULD DO BUT PINK!!! 8 MONTHS OF RENOVATIONS PRODUCED THE BAKERY THAT IS TODAY.

PINKY’S SHUGA SHACK…

The Best Shuga in Town!

About The Owner, Propriertor Marilyn Walker

I AM CURRENTLY THE OWNER OF PINKY’S SHUGA SHACK. I AM MARRIED WITH THREE CHILDREN. I AM ONE OF NINE CHILDREN WHO GREW UP IN THE CITY OF DETROIT.

I REALIZE THAT GOD HAS A PLAN FOR EACH AND EVERYONE. AND THIS IS HIS PLAN FOR ME. I GIVE THANKS TO HIM FOR BESTOWING ON ME THESE BLESSINGS.

GOD HAS ENABLED MY HUSBAND TO GIVE ME THE BEST OF EVERYTHING AND THE BAKERY IS JUST ANOTHER ONE OF THE MANY THINGS HE HAS GIVEN ME TO MAKE ME HAPPY. HIS GIVING HAS ALLOWED ALL OF THIS TO MATERIALIZE, AND YES, I THANK HIM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THANK YOU CLYDE E. WALKER

I HAVE BEEN BAKING FOR MANY YEARS, HAVING BEING THE PRODUCT OF A BAKING FAMILY OF GRANDMOTHERS, AUNTS, AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. I ENJOY BAKING, AND SEEING THE ENJOYMENT ON FOLKS FACES AFTER TASTING MY PIES, CAKES, COBBLERS, ROLLS, AND OTHER GOODIES. I WAS ALWAYS TOLD I SHOULD OPEN A RESTARUANT. BUT I JUST WANTED TO MAKE FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAPPY.

PINKY'S SHUGA SHACK HAS ALLOWED ME TO SERVE NOT ONLY BAKED GOODS BUT, TO BE AN ASSET TO THE COMMUNITY, WHICH ALLOWED ME THE CHANCE TO BEAUTIFY THE AREA AND TO EMPLOY RESIDENTS OF THE BEAUTIFUL CITY OF DETROIT. IT HAS BEEN THE VESSEL TO PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER BUSINESSES IN THE AREA TO REVITALIZE THIS CITY AS WELL.

PINKY'S SHUGA SHACK BAKERY BEING ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS I HAVE EVER RECEIVED, I STRIVE AT MAKING IT THE BEST THAT IT CAN BE. AND I CANNOT TELL YOU JUST HOW HAPPY IT HAS MADE ME.

I AM NOT A CHEF, I DID NOT ATTEND LE CORDON BLEU, I DON’T WEAR A PUFFY HAT . I COOK FOR MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND MYSELF. I AM NOT A CHEF I AM A COOK.!!!!
